‘Gems of Nature’ Bring Out the Crowds for the 76th Annual Santa Barbara International Orchid Show

One of the most prestigious orchid shows in the U.S. proved it’s still going strong this weekend, when enthusiastic crowds gathered at Earl Warren Showgrounds for the 76th Annual Santa Barbara International Orchid Show. After returning post-COVID in 2023, this beloved event brought guests from near and far to appreciate the grand orchid displays and exhibits of orchid art, photography, and floral arrangements, as well as workshops and demonstrations and more. 

In addition to displays in the large exhibit hall, there was a whole section devoted to retail sales of plants, equipment, artwork, themed gift items, and, of course, orchids of all types. There was even a “plant hotel,” which was similar to a coat check, where customers could park their purchases until they were ready to leave the showgrounds. Eligible displays are judged by the internationally sanctioned American Orchid Society Judging panel. Proceeds from the event go to further the work of the Santa Barbara International Orchid Show, a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) organization with the purpose of sharing the joy of the orchid world and educating the public about orchids via its annual show.  For more information, see sborchidshow.com.
