Anywhere from 400 to 600 Santa Barbarans — young, old, and in-between — thronged to the Santa Barbara Courthouse Tuesday night to call for the impeachment of President Donald Trump. They carried signs reading, “No one is above the law” and “Dump Trump, Ditch Mitch”; heard speeches from the likes of State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson, County Supervisor Das Williams, and State Assemblymember Monique Limón; chanted; and beat on drums. The rally was one of at least 500 like it nationwide, held just as the Senate was scheduled to launch impeachment proceedings of its own. This one was organized by activists with Indivisible.
