Anne-Sophie Mutter

German violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter was just 13 when she debuted at the Lucern Festival with the Berlin Philharmonic, and she is one of today’s biggest champions of 20th and 21st century classical music. And after she premiered the late Witold Lutoslawski’s “Chain 2” for violin and orchestra in 1986, the Polish composer was so impressed he orchestrated his earlier Partita for violin and piano and dedicated it to her. In honor of what would be his 100th birthday this year, Ms. Mutter is on tour cycling through some of Lutoslawski’s works for violin, in addition to those by great masters like Mozart and Schubert.
