Born in Memphis in 1938, Charles Lloyd became an international jazz superstar in the 1960’s, and was even embraced by that decade’s counterculture rock scene. But he was unprepared for the industry woes and excesses that followed and retreated from the public eye for nearly 20 years. His story, including his return to the jazz stage and studio that continues to this day, is told in the new documentary film, Charles Lloyd: Arrows Into Infinity, premiering at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. Directed by Dorothy Darr. (1/26 @ 7pm, SB Museum of Art & 1/29 @ 10:20am, Metro 4)
