Bell, Book and Candle
David Bazemore

1950’s Greenwich Village was defined by beatniks, poets, jazz… and witches. That’s according to playwright John Van Drutan, whose comic play Bell, Book and Candle went on to become a popular film starring James Stewart and Kim Novak. It’s about a beautiful, yet lonely witch who risks everything to fall in love with a human, and is also the precursor to the popular 1960’s TV show Bewitched.
