On this week’s Poodle Radio, Colin Marshall is joined first by Chelsey Steinman, the Indy’s first wine intern who has gone on to write the wine blog Tasting the Transverse and will soon debut a new wine column weekly on Independent.com and monthly in the paper. Colin and Chelsey discuss her introduction to wine itself, her ever-growing love of the wine industry, and her bad experiences with those who lack wine-tasting etiquette. Then, Colin airs a segment of his interview with UCSB professor Suzanne Jill Levine, general editor of Penguin’s newly released five-volume set of the Jorge Luis Borges’ essays and poems. She’ll appear at Chaucer’s Books (3321 State) on Tuesday, October 5 at 7 p.m. The interview originally aired in full on Colin’s KCSB program The Marketplace of Ideas.
Also included are songs collected by Poodle Radio music producer and Indy associate arts editor Aly Comingore from artists slated to play Santa Barbara, including Phoenix, the Hosannas, and the Japandroids. You can tune into Poodle Radio live every Tuesday morning from 8-9 a.m. on KCSB, 91.9 FM in Santa Barbara or on KCSB’s webcast at KCSB.org.
