First on this week’s Poodle Radio, Colin Marshall talks to Associate News Editor Tyler Hayden about his cover story on the use of possibly excessive force by Cottage Hospital’s security guards and the response it’s drawn so far. Then, D.J. Palladino joins the show with the subject of his own cover story next week: internet meme creator, 1990s Nerf Herder rock star, and Santa Barbara native Parry Gripp. Aside from playing some of Parry’s recently viral songs, they discuss the nature of an artistic career led equally in the old-media music world and, now, the realm of the internet, where traditional ideas about what’s “good” and what’s “terrible” no longer apply.

As always, the show’s music is organized by Indy Pop Culture Editor Aly Comingore, who this week brings tracks from artists including Pygmy Lush, Naked Walrus, the Black Crowes, all of whom are scheduled to play Santa Barbara soon. You can tune in to Poodle Radio live every Tuesday morning from 8-9 a.m. on KCSB, 91.9 FM in Santa Barbara or on KCSB’s webcast at KCSB.org.
