On this week’s Poodle Radio, Colin Marshall talks to Travers Adler, local surfer and author of a large segment in this year’s annual surf issue of the Indy. Travers’ friend, Indy reporter and fellow surfer Ethan Stewart, took notice of his imaginative, idiosyncratic journals and decided to tap his creative resources to convey to readers the feeling of the first swell of the surf season. The resulting an article presenting one slice of a homegrown surfer’s life from the kind of first-person perspective you may never have heard before.

In addition to surfing and writing, Travers also plays guitar and sings. He comes to the KCSB studio fully equipped, and plays a couple of tunes right there in the control room, marking his radio performance debut. This accompanies the usual set of tracks organized by Aly Comingore, Pop Culture Editor at the Indy. They’re from Eisley, OK Go, Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin, and more, all of whom are scheduled to play live in Santa Barbara soon. You can tune into Poodle Radio live every Tuesday morning from 8-9 a.m. on KCSB, 91.9 FM in Santa Barbara or on KCSB’s webcast at KCSB.org.
