So the Sheriff had the County Attorney arrest the Editor and Publisher. A weekly newspaper in Phoenix, threatened with felony prosecution for publishing Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s address on its website in 2005, heard the shoe drop last week. After an adjoining jurisdiction declined to press charges, Arpaio’s political ally, Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas, convened a grand jury to “investigate” charges the paper broke the law when it published Arpaio’s address, and culminated in the owners arrest on October 19.
