Cindy Nealer
May 21, 1959 – Dec. 3, 2008

We have lost a beautiful, inspiring soul that has walked this earth spreading love and peace to all people and animals. Cindy started her career as a travel agent so she could explore the world and travel to different places. She found great joy in sharing her travel experiences in helping others find that perfect vacation.

After many cold winters in Michigan, she had an opportunity to relocate to sunny Southern California. She loved everything about California, the warm weather, the beauty, the beaches, the mountains, the nightlife, and all the interesting people. Cindy was an outdoor person; she hiked everywhere, up and down the coast. She was an avid hiker with the Sierra club in Ventura.

Following her travel agent career, she developed an interest in holistic health. She started assisting various chiropractors and eventually did her own bodywork. She ran her own massage business and was known by her clients as “Nealer the Healer”. Her healing work didn’t stop there. She was a sponge for knowledge and truth studying the full gambit from bodywork, nutrition to energy and spiritual healing. The greatest teacher she studied with was god himself. After being diagnosed with metastasis breast cancer in Jan. 2001 with a 4 month death sentence and a prognosis that she would be permanently paralyzed, she had to connect with the divine. She lived her life by her favorite Einstein’s quotation “There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though everything is a miracle. The other is as though nothing is a miracle.” Everyone that knew her, knew she was a walking miracle.

The next 8 years was about inspiring people, giving people hope and spreading love. She wanted to make a difference helping people, animals and the planet. She spent years volunteering at the Breast Resource Center doing foot reflexology, inspiring women to empower themselves and to live life fully.

She also wanted to be known for her passion for animals, a true animal lover, wanting to help any animal in need. Rescuing dogs, cats, seals, birds, whales were always on her mind. She made the front page of the Ojai paper rescuing a stray cat that had a leg broken in multiple places. She worked hard organizing several ladies to hold bake sales to raise $1800 for the surgery. She was constantly surrounded by animals having 2 horses of her own, 2 dogs, and 4 cats. Animals were the love of her life.

Cindy will be truly missed. Her whole life, she wondered if she made a difference helping people, animals and the planet. She had no idea how far-reaching her positive, caring and inspiring message had touched people. Only now, in spiritual form can she see what she has accomplished here on earth.

Cindy Nealer is survived by her loving husband Sam Chang, her mother Marjorie Eisenberg, sister Diana (Bob) Long, and brothers Thomas (Eline) and Joseph (Marge) Nealer. Also survived by beloved dogs Ralphie, Solara and beloved cats Nicky, Grayton, Mikey and Elle. A memorial will take place on Feb. 15 at 12:30pm.
