Nine-Year-Old Gives Back to the Community

On July 27th from 5:00 to 5:45pm, nine-year-old Jacob Dominguez will lead a fundraiser at Aikido Kenkyukai Santa Barbara (“AKSB”) at 121A East Mason Street. Jacob and possibly other members of the organization, will be thrown over and over into a somersault-like move.

Public Review for Bishop Ranch Development

The controversial notion of developing Bishop Ranch in Goleta begins public review this week, as the City of Goleta is hosting a workshop on July 21 at 6 p.m. in city council chambers, where the staff will deliver the results of a consultant’s $85,000 fact-finding study of the 240-acre parcel, where as many as 1,200 homes have been conceptually proposed.

New Marine Protected Areas Get Big Funding

Set to go into effect on 10/1, the new system of Southern California Marine Protected Areas got a major shot in the arm this week as the Ocean Protection Council announced $4 million worth of earmarked funding to help monitor the impacts of the controversial fishing regulations.
