Katherine Magaña

Katherine Magaña of Carpinteria, California, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2022. The beloved wife of David Magaña and mother to Sharon, Morry Jr., Margaret, Arthur, and Joe, Katherine is preceded in death by her parents Cecilia and Dave and her sister Mary. She was eighty-two years old.

Kathy (as many knew her) and Morry Sr raised their children in Santa Barbara. With a love for family above all else, Kathy is remembered for the extent of that love. She never forgot a birthday, never forgot a card to celebrate any occasion and she brought the most beautiful flowers to our homes. With five children, nine total grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, she was always present for every single one of them. Across dance performances, football games, soccer games, plays, you could always count on seeing her in the audience. She was always a part of our lives and will continue to be. A loved one says of Kathy, “I can’t remember in all my years of knowing her, ever feeling uncomfortable with her. She was kind, loving, and always looking forward to visiting family.”

Kathy is survived by her husband David Magaña; her sisters & brothers, Annabelle, Diane (Ray), Martha (Roger), Shirley (Dave), Marcelino (Toni) & Dave; her children Sharon (John Sr.), Morry Jr., Margaret, Art (Keith), Joe (Sylvia); her grandchildren, John Jr., Randy (Ginnie), Sarah, Michael, Alyssa, Jacob, and Mia; her great-grandchildren, Isaiah & Elijah; and many nieces & nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for all the consideration and care they provided. It is truly appreciated. A celebration of life will be held on April 12.
