GONE COUNTRY

Santa Ynez’s Chumash Casino scored a nod from the Academy of Country Music for Casino of the Year. It is one of only five casinos in the nation to receive a nomination. The winner will be announced at the 44th Academy of Country Music Awards, airing on CBS on Sunday, April 5.

INTERNATIONAL APPEAL

The Contemporary Arts Forum hosts the performance artists of the Poor Dog Group this Thursday, March 5, as part of its ongoing Forum Lounge series. LISTEN IN, SPEAK UP

Santa Barbara Art Studios (709 E. Mason St.) will hold a reception and poetry reading for artist Anton Tihomirov this Friday, February 27. The event will also double as a fundraiser for the youth-run social justice magazine, Shape of Voice. The party starts at 6 p.m., and all art sales benefit Shape of Voice. Call 637-6802 for info.
