I noted the ad by KCSB in the Independent for an October 20 book-signing by Amy Goodman and Denis Moynihan, two leading champions, among journalists, of the Occupy Movement. I assume they will talk about the fight against privilege in our society. OK, but then why didn’t any of the editors or ad copy people at the Indy not kindly point out to KCSB the deep irony of an ad offering an exclusive “VIP” reception at the event for those who pay an extra $60? Apparently the rest of the audience who cannot afford that are not “very important persons.” Seriously? For an Occupy-themed event? Help them out here, guys.

I agree, it's an oxymoron. I have no information about Amy Goodman's booksigning, but I've attended fundraisers with private events like this that were billed as limited to those making large donations but didn't exclude others. I can't afford $60, but I support Amy Goodman's great work and any means of fundraising, although I listen to Democracy Now on KCSB for free because that's what I can currently afford.
