Black Sheep

Responding to those who ask the new mosque to keep a close watch on all of their sheep.

Imperfections deflect attention —

A pimple too near a cute dimple,

A bug squashed in a fine rug,

A dark spot on a shirt that’s not,

A dust ball in a just-swept hall,

A liar leading as a squire,

A thief posing as a chief,

A riot that disturbs the quiet —

Yet underneath that sheath,

Behind the shadow you’ll find,

The light was in sight shining bright.
