I know this is a pet peeve of mine, but can we change the name of this column to Goleta Valley Grapevine?
4 of the places listed here are not in Goleta.

Great job by DP! Go Chargers!

But sad to say it is not a State title. Northern California plays the sport in the fall. The closest thing to a state title is the Masters Meet, which I'm sure the Chargers will win!

"Also, we can see that SBCC brings a lot of non-local young people to the area. The SBCC president and hierarchy doesn't seem to care to acknowledge the impacts."

What do you mean by that sevendolphins? UCSB and Westmont also bring in a lot of non-local people to the area. My job brought myself, a non-local, to this area. There are many immigrant workers in this area. Basically, there are thousands of people, for many different reasons, who are non-local living here.

I understand it is semantics. But as a Goleta resident, when I read the coroners office was in Goleta, I got confused. Now I see there was only one mistake in an otherwise good article about a great division of the Sheriff's department.

Thank you for the information.

But now I am confused. You say it is located in Santa Barbara, the article states it is in Goleta. Which is it?
Or is this really a Santa Barbara Grapevine article?

Where is the coroner's office located?

It was not for free. The kids told me Tyrone was paid $3000 and Toad was paid $25k. That is what irks me.

Which show did you watch Mr. Dicks? Toad was good, but they were not THAT good. Sad to say for Toad, Tyrone Wells was a tough act to follow. It was pitiful that Glen could't even remember his name. Kids Helping Kids from San Marcos put on a great event, and it seemed to me that Toad was pretty wasted when they were playing and didn't even really appreciate what the event was for.
Toad was good, but all in all to me it seemed like a wasted opportunity to showcase themselves to new fans. Maybe they are just getting together to make some money, and that made it even worse to play a benefit show for the students from their own high school and the Unity Shoppe.

I think another question Mrs. Uribe should have asked in her non-scientific survey is what types of media did her subjects partake in? With the News-Press as it is, perhaps the people she interviewed were not online-news readers. Both the projects she mentioned have been in the Independent and Daily Sound.
