Several years ago, I bought a backpacking espresso maker at REI as a joke...never thinking it would actually work or satisfy my coffee craving on the trail. I was wrong. I now never backpack without it. I pre-grind my favorite beans at home before leaving and put the grinds in two ziplocks to keep it fresh, and it all tucks away easily and lightly in my pack. Definitely a fabulous way to appreciate the cold mornings and loosen up the back from that pesky, previously unnoticed rock under the sleeping bag. :)
