I take huge offensive to people implying or saying the Indy or Nick Welsh would purposely print lies or exaggerations! My son interns there & has worked on stories with Nick so there for you are then calling into question the integrity of my son & what he writes! That does not happen! Get your facts straight before you speak, check court records & hey maybe some of you should have checked Joe out on his many dating sites and those pictures as well, his integrity is in question not the Indy! He needs to go he broke the law, no question about that, his ego is as big as his drinking problem, maybe if he cared about his family and his issue as much as sticking it to those who want him to step down he may finally get it, he has absolutely NO humility, God help him! You have to feel sorry for him!

what can the public do to get him out? Isn't that the question here? how can the public start a recall, seems to me reading the paper, reading comments, listening to people in town, reading comments on social media that NO ONE basically wants him on the council, so let's just get him out, like my dad used to say, poop or get off the pot, stop bitching about him and take action! Can we get papers from city hall? I'll start them!

It would seem to me if he really meant what he said he would set down immediately, but for some reason he is not! I would think there is a way for the people of Carpinteria to ban together & get him out, I mean people banned together for force out those on the school board who wanted to take the Warrior away, right? So can't we force him out? Start a petition? What would it take, when is his term over?

The bottom line is why wasn't he arrested????? If this was me I bet I'd been arrested & chained to my hospital bed! True alcoholism is a disease, but not an excuse, I watched my dad who I loved die from cancer, I made some very poor choices and had some destructive behavior, no one gave me a free pass. Choices and then when they don't work out deal with the outcome, I'v livid with a reported .16 his ass isn't in jail! WTF is that????? That is the bottom line isn't it? A repeat drunk driver driving into a tree with a .16 would be arrested and in jail, what happened here, why wasn't he arrested, that is the BIG question I'd love answered!

Seriously? If this was anyone else they would have been arrested in the hospital! Waiting to see if the local Carp paper prints the story on this local hero! Bet they don't & bet he doesn't step down as on city counsel either! Over people making excuses for their actions, own it! Thank God he didn't hurt or kill anyone, again how many times has he driven drunk & not been caught???????? Rolled a car now this, yet we need to feel bad for him & because of who he is give him "grace", ya OK!

Who deemed him the "angel of death" all those years ago & who made everyone judge, jury & executioner????? If he has been deemed healthy enough to be removed from Patton & served his time who is anyone if NOT someone who has evaluated him on a daily basis to judge????? Did none of you carefully read the whole article & see he will be placed into "continuing treatment in a facility contracted by the California Department of Mental Health’s Forensic Conditional Release Program (CONREP)". Duh that means that he will be still under care & be taking his meds! Get a grip!!!!! I was in prison, served my time & still have to deal with people like you, I sure didn't kill anyone, but you would think I did, when do people actually get a chance to prove themselves????? God I hope none of you or your loved ones make a mistake or have mental issues!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
