My mom and grandmother worked full time when I was a child (in the 60's). I actually learned to cook at school in Home Economics class. I was so fascinated, I went on to plant a food garden and started to read cookbooks. And then of course there was the other semester of Home Ec. when you learned to sew! I was shocked when my own children went to Jr. High and they no longer offered Home Ec. classes, but were forced to take wood shop! Is it any wonder that kids (especially those with working parents) don't know how to cook? If nothing else we should be teaching kids some practical life skills so they aren't all dependent. Oh, I could go on and on about this!
