I don't think anyone is saying that the experiences are equivalent. We need to find many different paths to reach out to troubled community members. Hearing someone else tell their story about rising above difficulties and challenges can be an inspiration to many, whether they are at-risk youth or someone who anonymously comments on news stories.
These survivors have a great many lessons to share, and I hope that everyone will take advantage of hearing these stories now, before they are lost to us in the coming years.
