Although the exact date of its construction is unknown, the general belief is that the San Jose Winery, located off Vineyard Road near San Jose Creek, is the oldest building in the Goleta Valley. Despite speculation from friends and foes alike that he was forced out, Moses insists his July 28 departure has “nothing to do” with the audit of the affordable housing program he administered. Members of both agencies unanimously and enthusiastically affirmed their support for the transit center’s octagonal-shaped current digs, pointing out that downtown is the final destination for many bus riders, not merely a jumping-off point for other journeys.
