Two very special photography exhibits from Brooks Institute students will be on display downtown at their new Cota St. Gallery on Thursday June 7. For the past few years internationally published photographer Dennis Sheridan and ex-radiologist Thomas Lloyd Miller have worked together to capture images of the natural world in ways which normally escape human vision. Their exhibit, “Invisible Light,” is a collection of microscopic close-ups and infrared and ultraviolet shots which reveal the hidden colors that exist all around us.

David Lischel, an experienced travel photographer and Provost of Brooks, will also present “Images of Northern Italy.” Although his exhibit may be more conventional in terms of what people expect from photography, its fantastic shots of scenery and everyday Italian life are beautifully moving. Gathered in Milan, Venice, and many other villages, his photographs capture simple, but profoundly fleeting moments in people’s lives.

The exhibits are part of the Santa Barbara Downtown Organization’s First Thursday Initiative. All are invited to the reception on June 7 at Brooks’ Cota St. Campus and Gallery at 27 East Cota St. from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
