The Skinny: After meeting in Maui, Gunn and Mulberry moved as a duo act to Santa Barbara and began touring the California coast, blending their provocative combination of feminine and masculinity, youth, and maturity to create a hauntingly beautiful repertoire of songs about the islands they love. With their different, yet complimentary styles, David and Valarie take turns singing lead on the songs they write. Both have won awards from the West Coast Songwriters Association for Best Song; Mulberry for her song, “Linger,” at the monthly open mic competition, and Gunn for Best Performance and Song of the Year in 2006 for his original, “Sail on Home.” Fly to Blue crafts soothing, emotionally moving songs with beautiful imagery – perfect for our nature-loving community.
Upcoming Shows: Opening up for Jonatha Brooke at SOhO, Friday June 8 at 8 p.m. They’ll also be playing on Saturday June 30 at 8 p.m. in the Borders Cafe in the Camino Real Marketplace in Goleta.
