The Naval Air System Command awarded an $8 million contract to Alliant Techsystems (ATK) to supply rocket motors for foreign military sales. According to an 8/27 announcement from the Minnesota-based company, which has a plant in Goleta and offices in Santa Barbara, the rockets will aid South Korea, Kuwait, Chile, Germany, and Portugal. Earlier in August, ATK won a $1.8 billion NASA contract to develop the next-generation human space flight vehicle, dubbed Ares 1.
