It’s pretty much a given that live reggae music, being earth conscious, surfing, skateboarding, and snowboarding are all good things. But when you put all this stuff together under one roof on a Friday night-well, you have yourself one helluva recipe for a soul-shaking, ass-skanking, shaka-throwing good time. That is exactly what is happening this Friday, October 26, at SOhO, when the folks from LoaTree-an S.B. organization dedicated to bliss-causing products and parties-present the Unite Tour.
Not only do you get a live show and new album release party from California roots/rock/reggae heavyweights Soul Majestic, but you also have on hand a film premiere from surf/skate/snowboard Trilogy Arts, as well as a raffle featuring all sorts of groovy environment-friendly products such as Patagonia wetsuits, Homeblown biofoam surfboard blanks, skate decks, snowboards, and more. Oh yeah-the whole thing only costs $10.
Though the party is going down in Santa Barbara, the night is really a homecoming of sorts for a few native sons of Goleta. While Soul Majestic headman Eric Iverson is no stranger to performing back in his childhood haunts since relocating to Santa Cruz, the evening marks a bit of a coming-out party for the board sport company Trilogy Arts. Based out of Lake Tahoe, the Trilogy crew has a decidedly Goletan flavor, with Goodland natives Ruben Sanchez and Brad Johnson responsible for the rider-designed and built skate, snow, and surfboards. The company’s first movie, Unite, features team riders, some of whom are very familiar faces, going mental in all three board-sport disciplines.
