Santa Barbara police are investigating a Tuesday night stabbing as a gang-related incident, according to Sgt. Lorenzo Duarte, a spokesman for the department. Officers responded to a call just after 9 p.m. to Brisas Del Mar Motel at 223 Castillo St., and arrived to find a 28-year-old man with multiple stab wounds.

Witnesses told police that the man, along with two others, had come into the motel lobby earlier and lingered for 30 seconds before leaving. About five minutes later, the man returned to the lobby with several stab wounds. The man, who was treated for serious but not lift-threatening injuries at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, told police he was attacked by five or six people. Police were able to follow a blood trail that led to 300 W. Yanonali St., according to Duarte, but unable to apprehend any suspects.
