Majority of Those Taken into Custody Charged with Parole or Probation Violations
As a result of three search warrants and about 30 probation and parole sweeps in Guadalupe and Santa Maria, the gang unit of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department arrested 10 people on Friday. According to a press release from Sheriff’s spokesperson Sgt. Alex Tipolt, included on the list of people taken into custody for probation or parole violations were Alejandro Carrillo, 25; Miguel Alvarez, 28; Gilbert Victorino, 46; Joseph Chavez, 27; Luis Gonzalez, 23; Joseph Munoz, 31; and Alejandro Garcia, 32. Jesus Jose Gomez, 19, was arrested for “a warrant,” Tipolt noted, though he did not elaborate. Jose Ignacio Bernal, 19, was also arrested, though on charges of being under the influence of a controlled substance and for being in possession of a dangerous weapon. Finally, a 15-year-old was arrested as well, on charges of being under the influence of a controlled substance.
Tipolt’s initial statement on the matter did not explain what sort of parole or probation violations the men had been arrested for.
