A call went out from Santa Barbara County on 5/21 seeking “developer/borrowers” interested in creating permanent rental housing for people with severe mental illness, using some or all of the $4,577,000 it expects to receive over the next three years from the California Department of Mental Health.

Cold winds and gray skies did not deter a crowd from gathering near Stearn’s Wharf as Veterans For Peace on 5/26 celebrated its 5th annual Memorial Day candlelight vigil at Arlington West, where thousands of white crosses represent lives of some of the American soldiers killed in current military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
