The pilot of a small airplane reported down today near the 5000 block of Figueroa Mountain Road was relatively unharmed, said a 2:45 p.m. message from the County Fire Department. Suffering minor injuries, the man was apparently on the ground, with his single-engine yellow plane lodged 20 to 30 feet off the ground in a stand of oak trees. County Fire officials are talking to the pilot to determine the cause of the crash, which is not yet known.
