Likely in response to the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors’ recent closed-session vote to revisit the terms of its Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with hopeful Naples developer Matt Osgood, the Orange County-based Osgood filed paperwork late last week to void the longstanding MOU agreement.
Should his cancellation still stand after a hearing on the subject in early March, all of the Coastal Zone portions of Osgood’s 71 large-scale luxury homes development would be taken off the table including some 16 homes, public beach access, and a sizeable conservation easement. Furthermore, it would give new life to a longstanding multimillion dollar lawsuit against the county related to the legally buildable lots at Naples that has been dormant since the MOU was created nearly a decade ago. The supervisors approved Osgood’s vision late last fall.
