Where: 3132 State St., 563-2007.

What: Unique flavor combinations marry a diverse array of cuisines in a friendly and comfortable atmosphere.

How Much: Starters/salads $7-$12, large plates $12-$18.

The Dish: Jade’s colorful menu inspired by everyday family cooking features comfort fare with an Asian panache. Chef Dustin Green opened the upper State Street restaurant in 2006 (taking over the space formerly known as Aja) with his wife Jeannine, and they have delighted visitors with their exotic culinary creations from the first pot of homemade soup. Lamb ragout and a dairy-free coconut curried tiger prawn risotto are stewed and warmed for the coldest of evenings. Kahlua pork follows the same model, nestled in a bed of creamy polenta and snap peas. Asian touches have a hand in the pot stickers, wontons, soy vinaigrette drizzled greens, and grilled sea scallops. Lychee lovers will not want to miss this rare treat as an ingredient in the Mex-Asian salad tossed with black beans and tomatoes. An eclectic assortment of cuisine comes together to create a seamlessly homey feel with the experimentation in the kitchen that is found at the finest dining establishments.
