Mon Aug 17, 2009 | 06:00am

Multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune disease in which the body’s immune response attacks its central nervous system, with its first symptoms usually occurring between 20 and 40 years old. To help raise funds to explore new treatments and a cure, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society of Santa Barbara is holding a benefit concert with proceeds going to the nonprofit. The evening’s musical lineup includes Doug Pettibone (of Buick 6 and the Lucinda Williams band), David Shere, Jena Douglas, Nancy and the Jam Band, Andrew Jackson, Teresa Russell, and Rachel Sedacca. It takes place on Saturday, August 22, from 5-10 p.m., at EOS Lounge (500 Anacapa St.). Visit eoslounge.com. Tickets are $7 pre-sale and $10 at the door, and are available at Jensen’s Guitar (2830 De la Vina St.; call 687-4027).
