Since last Wednesday, Sepetember 9, 13 people have been arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, reported Lt. Paul McCaffrey in a Monday afternoon round-up of recent goings-on at the Santa Barbara Police Department. Of these, one merited special note: 55-year-old David Nancarrow, who police say drove while intoxicated twice in the same day.
McCaffrey’s report states that police arrested Nancarrow first for DUI around 6:50 a.m. on Upper State Street, after an officer noticed him driving with his high beams on. He was cited and released. Around 2 p.m. that same day, Nancarrow allegedly set out on a Vespa motor scooter, making it only a few blocks away from his Riviera home before tumbling down an embankment on Arbolado Road. He was taken to Cottage Hospital for treatment of injuries before being cited again for DUI. McCaffrey noted that Nancarrow’s blood-alcohol level was higher at the time of the second arrest than it was during the first.
