Organic Gangster

Everything’s going green these days, even Santa Barbara’s longtime quirk-pop maestro Spencer the Gardener, whose new album is a catchy ode to the slow food movement perfect for the Farmers Market crowd. Originally conceived as a children’s album-honeybees and the giant mountain chicken frog are just two animal stars carrying some of the fruity weight-Organic Gangster is sing-along-y for the kiddies, but smart enough for adults-or at least those ready to yell. “Don’t eat genetically modified food!” launches the record, while the seasonal sensation “The Gobble Song”-which tends to top YouTube on Thanksgiving Day-now has an album to officially call home. It’ll be released to the eco-grooving masses October 10 at the S.B. Harbor Festival.
