Sat Apr 10, 2010 | 06:00am

Is your garden as earth-friendly as it can be? Improve the environmental health of your backyard patch; enroll in SBCC Continuing Education’s Green Gardener Classes, a 15-week series starting this Wednesday, April 14. State-certified Green Gardener and Goleta resident Lalo Mora will lead workshops on environmentally sound garden practices for topics like home landscape design, soil and water management, green composting, fertilizing options, and eco-friendly pest control. Participants will also learn about the harmful environmental impacts of certain landscape equipment, insect repellent, and other commonly practiced garden techniques while working toward their own state certification. This week’s Green Gardener class (an orientation and registration meeting) starts at 2:30 p.m. at the Schott Center (310 W. Padre St., Rm. 31); courses meet once weekly until July 28. There’s a $35 materials fee. Call 683-8260 for more info or visit greengardener.org to register.
