Raised in Stuyvesant Town, New York City, political columnist and book author David Brooks has raised eyebrows within his Republican party for supporting gay marriage and being pro-choice. An admirer of President Obama, the moderate conservative will be in S.B. to give a talk titled Politics in the Age of Obama, in which he will discuss the “new age of presidential politics.” Brooks currently writes a biweekly op-ed column for the New York Times and is an analyst on The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer and NPR’s All Things Considered.
