Aloha Spirit Bash to Raise Funds for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation; Lompoc Museum Seeks Donations for Ethnic Arts Marketplace

Mon Jul 26, 2010 | 12:00pm

• Dance, food and drink, entertainment, and live Hawaiian music will ensure a fun-filled afternoon for attendees at the 1st Annual Aloha Spirit Bash this Saturday, July 31. The aloha-themed day of merriment will be held from noon to 7 p.m. at Elings Park (1298 Las Positas Rd.). Proceeds benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Call 245-4910 for more info.

• The Lompoc Museum and La Purisima Mission’s docent program is in need of item donations from giving globetrotters for its upcoming Ethnic Arts Marketplace, to be held this November. The groups are seeking non-Western treasures and trinkets in good condition from cultures around the world — items like Guatemalan textiles, finger puppets from India, Japanese fans, Russian dolls, and more. The docent program asks that donations be accompanied by as much information about the item’s origin as is available. Proceeds will benefit either organization of the benefactor’s choice. Call 736-3888 or 588-2574 for more info.
