MAINLAND MAN: Indy intern Rhys Alvarado, who moved to the South Coast from Maui four years ago, is no stranger to the news biz. Holding virtually every position at the Channels before writing for us, Alvarado has a penchant for working on long features since they allow him to develop relationships with his sources, something he particularly enjoys. He’s looking to finish up his bachelor’s degree in journalism in San Francisco or “any other big city” sometime soon. What’s he doing when he’s not researching or writing?
