The Geezer Bandit—a 60- to 70-year-old man believed to be responsible for 13 armed bank robberies in Southern California since 2009—allegedly robbed the Bank of America branch on Calle Real in Goleta on 1/28. According to the Sheriff’s Department, the man walked in through the rear entrance of the bank and handed a teller a note demanding money. He was reportedly brandishing a handgun. The teller complied and the suspect soon after walked out the way he came in and later could not be located by authorities. The FBI is offering a $20,000 award for information leading to the man’s arrest, and anyone with knowledge is urged to contact Santa Barbara Sheriff’s detectives at (805) 681-4171.
