Wed Feb 16, 2011 | 09:50am

As part of Disability and Equity Awareness Week at San Marcos High School, this Thursday February 17 at 10:45am and 12:40pm, Activities Director Aaron Solis will be facilitating a Disability Awareness speaker panel in the San Marcos Library.

San Marcos students will get to listen to some of their peers who have different disabilities, to discover, learn, and understand what it is like for students with disabilities to function at school. Speakers will share what their disabilities are, and describe the challenges they face at home, school, and in the community.Students will be able to ask questions of the panel to engage in a question and answer period. The purpose of this program is to foster better communication between students at San Marcos and to add to the positive climate on campus.

This is the second year San Marcos High School is conducting this program after receiving glowing praise from teachers, students, and the community after last year’s program. All press are invited and encouraged to attend one of the sessions to see how open dialogue can contribute to the community at large. Please check in at the Main Office for your visitor pass.
