How to Deal with It

One, Two, Three

It really bothers me that neither the police nor the city are capable of confronting the homeless problem on State Street. I will not tolerate packs of intoxicated, panhandling, and menacing individuals scaring people away from Santa Barbara’s famed State Street.

Here’s what to do:

1. Have the cops make it uncomfortable for them at every turn. How many have drugs or alcohol or warrants? How many are dealing drugs?

2. Make it illegal to sit on the sidewalk on State St.

3. Get rid of the park benches, citizens can sit on chairs provided by private sidewalk cafes and businesses.

Santa Barbara must not become homeless utopia.
