Exploring Racism

Though the civil rights movement did a lot to advance equal rights of ethnic groups, racism is still a common problem in the U.S. In an effort to spark discussion concerning the cultural, scientific, and biological aspects of ethnicity, the S.B. Museum of Natural History (SBMNH) is hosting the interactive exhibit Race: Are We So Different? The exhibit explores three themes of racism—scientific, historic, and cultural—through lectures, photographs, interactive activities, and more. “This exhibit provides an opportunity for our community and visitors to have a thought-provoking experience about the idea of ‘race,’ which has categorized people for generations,” said Heather Moffat, museum director of education and exhibits.
