Elings Park Foundation Executive Director Steen Hudson to Leave at Year-end

Twenty-year Non-Profit Veteran Establishes Nonprofit Consulting Firm

“Steen has done an excellent job and we wish him all the best,” Katz said. “We have instituted a search for a new Executive Director and we are all committed to a smooth transition that maintains the park’s many outstanding programs and services.”

“After almost 20 years of management experience in the nonprofit field, I feel it is time for me to broaden my vision and put the lessons I have learned to work on behalf of organizations with varying missions,” Hudson said. “My new business, Hudson Consulting will provide a full range of services to nonprofits, including fund-raising, organizational development, grant writing, promotion, marketing and board development. Nonprofit groups face extraordinary challenges today and I am excited about helping them succeed.”

Bill Cirone, Chairman of the Elings Park Board of Directors, praised Hudson’s commitment and energy, citing his numerous accomplishments during five years as Executive Director.

“Steen has been instrumental in helping Elings Park to operate more efficiently, become stronger financially, broaden its donor base, raise its public awareness, upgrade its physical facilities and increase the number of programs and services we provide to the community,” Cirone said. “We understand his desire to now focus on a consulting career as a full-time occupation and wish him every success in his new endeavor.”

Prior to joining Elings Park, Hudson spent five years as President of the Santa Barbara Rescue Mission and six years as Special Assistant to the President of World Relief International. He also spent six years in the Student Life department at Westmont College.

Established in 1980, Elings Park is the nation’s largest privately funded park. Administered by the Elings Park Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that operates entirely on contributions from members of the community, the park is a 230-acre recreational complex that serves more than 219,000 people each year.
