For the ninth year in a row, a crew of Santa Barbara Middle School kids and their supporters ventured into the Bolivian Amazon to raise money and do some hands-on work in support of the Fundación Salud Río Beni, the health organization founded more than a decade ago by the late Dr. Lou Netzer.

The California Highway Patrol’s Start Smart program is a driver safety education class that targets new and future licensed teenage drivers between the age of 15-19, their parents, and guardians. Officers discuss traffic collision avoidance techniques, collision causational factors, driver/parent responsibilities, seatbelt usage, etc.
