Not What We Call Restoration

A prominent local developer is asking you to vote for Measure Y so that he can build a luxury estate development along Arroyo Burro Creek.

His misleading campaign literature claims that – if you vote for Measure Y – Arroyo Burro Creek will be restored.

Nothing is further from the truth. The City’s Environmental Impact Report found that the developer’s project would cause permanent and significant adverse ecological damage to the City’s most natural creek.

The proposed bridge over Arroyo Burro – desired by the developer to serve the luxury estates – would also harm wildlife moving along the creek.

We have studied the developer’s plans for grading and heavy equipment work within the environmentally-sensitive creek. The plans call for lining the creek with large boulders in an effort to protect the planned luxury estates. This is not creek restoration; in fact, this project would interfere with the City’s plans for real restoration of the creek.

Don’t be misled; join Santa Barbara’s leading creek experts and community groups. Vote No on Y and no on bulldozing, polluting and harming our City’s nicest creek: Arroyo Burro.
