High-Goal Polo Season Starts Sunday

The Santa Barbara Foresters will play their annual Fourth of July baseball game at 4:30 p.m. at UCSB’s Caesar Uyesaka Stadium. The Foresters, defending National Baseball Conference champions, have won their last eight games. They are 20-8 overall and 12-4 in the California Collegiate League.

The Foresters also host the California Wahoos and Southern Cal Halos this week in the Rawlings California Cup. The winner of the tournament final on Sunday will earn a berth in the NBC World Series at Wichita, Kansas.

The high-goal polo season at the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club begins Sunday with the first round of the Mayors Cup.

SEMANA NAUTICA 2012

June 23-July 14 – Semana Nautica (“marine week”) began in the 1930s when Santa Barbara residents organized sporting activities with visiting Navy seamen. It evolved into an annual sports festival open to the public around the July 4 holiday. There is no charge for spectators at any event, but the festival’s primary objective is to encourage participation. Events in the 75th Semana Nautica include age-group and masters swimming, ocean swims, flying disc competitions, a 15-kilometer run, beach volleyball, beach soccer, softball, tennis, and a cardboard kayak race.
