Jerry Roberts Serving Liens and Levies on News-Press
Former News-Press editor Jerry Roberts observed the sixth anniversary of Santa Barbara’s only daily newspaper’s now mythic meltdown by serving liens and levies on the Santa Barbara News-Press building in De la Guerra Plaza, its printing press in Goleta, and on owner Wendy McCaw’s bank account to enforce payment of the nearly $1 million in attorney’s fees he was awarded in compensation for his protracted legal showdown with McCaw.
Head of Former County Department Leaving
Sharon Friedrichsen, the head of what was formerly the Housing and Community Development department and now an assistant director in the Community Services Department, “will separate from County service” on 8/3, according to County HR Director Jeri Muth. Friedrichsen — one of many HCD directors under whose watch the Lompoc Housing and Community Development Corp. faltered — was the department’s seventh leader in seven years, before HCD came under the umbrella of a new, consolidated department.
