Missing Warmth

I was very saddened to learn of the death of former UCSB chancellor Robert Huttenback. I had the great fortune to meet him several years ago. We became friendly and had numerous conversations on a variety of topics, including a shared love of history. Bob was one of the most open-minded, intelligent, and kind human beings I have ever known. He never once demonstrated anything but respect, civility, and personal warmth toward me. I offer my sincere condolences to his family. I will miss him greatly.
