As a veteran of the cosmetics industry, Santa Barbara County-based motivational speaker Vanessa Prince maintains a presence in that market as a distributor of the all-natural, skin-care product Nerium.

Nerium donates 30 percent of its sales to cancer research and the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of America. In the past two years, Nerium International has grossed $300 million.

“That’s why I affiliated myself with Nerium,” Prince said, “because that ties into with the type of work I do and want to see done.”

Prince’s work with Nerium is highly praised by officials at Santa Barbara County’s Family Service Agency, which oversees the local Big Brothers & Big Sisters organization.

“Vanessa is not only passionate, she is extremely involved in the community, an inspirational speaker and volunteer, sharing her good will with many people, youth and adults,” Bonnie Pack, program manager for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Santa Barbara County.

“We do benefit from our relationship with Nerium,” Pack said. “Nerium International has selected Big Brothers Big Sisters nationally as its charity of choice and encourages its sales force to support Big Brothers Big Sisters locally.”

Pack said Nerium chose to partner with Family Service Agency’s Big Brothers Big Sisters “because its values closely align with our goal to make a positive impact on the lives of others.”

“Family Service Agency Big Brothers Big Sisters program views our partnership with Nerium as helping us to develop more mentoring relationships, connections that have a positive, lasting effect on our community youth,” Pack said. “Local Nerium representatives are already in the process of becoming a mentor and have expressed interest in helping Big Brothers Big Sisters with a proposed Bowl for Kids’ Sake fundraising event next year.”

Pack said, “I have talked with Vanessa Prince and she is passionate about her work and Nerium’s core values of promoting personal growth, giving back and caring about the future of our young people.”

Nerium International‘s goal is to become Big Brothers Big Sisters largest single corporate partner in terms of dollars raised and volunteers recruited.

Recently working with the women’s business network in the Santa Ynez Valley, Prince is expanding her business to the South Coast. She plans to speak before local groups and hold seminars for business people.

After working 30 years as a motivational speaker, Prince encourages business owners to re-ignite their passion, ask for help and re-invent themselves to meet today’s demands on them.

She says fear of failure and actual failure itself often lead to emotional blockages. Prince reminds business owners that many successful entrepreneurs fail at least once, but learn from that experience and move on. She encourages business owners to ask for help and re-invent themselves to meet today’s demands on them. “Don’t forget to use what you started with,” she says.

Prince says many business owners these days have lost their passion for their work and need to find it again. “Many baby boomers won’t use the technology needed in business today,” she said. “So many people close their minds to the new technology when it can be used to enhance their business.”

As someone who has worked in the spa and fashion industry as well as Estee Lauder, Lancôme and Chanel, Prince says she to open what she calls “emotional blockages” and get one’s business life back in balance.

Prince also runs a ministry that calls for “spiritual uplifting and calls loving yourself inside and out.” Through the ministry, she works with women of more than 40 years of age who have lost their passion. She has been a guide and speaker with Stonecrost ministry for the past seven years.
