The Great Sam Cathcart

As I was re-reading John Zant’s July 17 article concerning Santa Barbara Coach Sam Cathcart, I was inspired by the biographical narrative. I admire the “Greatest Generation,” and Sam epitomizes the best of the great. What a man — in every facet of his life. The incredible experiences during WWII by Sam and his brethren are always fascinating, and I am grateful that they were successful. How lucky are those players at Santa Barbara High who were led by Sam Cathcart. I didn’t know Sam or anything about him prior to reading John’s story, and I look forward to more of his stories. And I am hoping that his book about Sam Cathcart will be coming soon!
